The Elephant Path uses cookies and comparable technologies (hereinafter collectively called “cookies”). This statement specifically explains how we and users of our services deploy cookies, as well as the options you have to control them.

What are cookies?

What cookies The Elephant Path uses

The Elephant Path uses functional and analytical cookies. Functional cookies are cookies with a purely technical functionality. These ensure that the website and functions within the website work properly, such as session management, controlling website traffic so that the site remains accessible, and loading fonts from an external source. If applicable, functional cookies also ensure that your preferred settings (e.g., language, time-zone) are remembered.

Analytical cookies anonymously collect data about how people are using our website en help us to optimize the website. We use these for measuring the number of visitors, determining the order in which a visitor checks the web pages, measuring the duration of each visit to our web pages, and determining whether web pages or specific flows within the website should be adapted or optimized. The statistical reports made of these data cannot be tracked to any visitors.

The Elephant Path uses Google Analytics to track how our website is being used, a web analytics tool offered by Google Inc. (Google). We have configured Google Analytics services in accordance with the manual for privacy-friendly configuration (“Handleiding privacyvriendelijk instellen van Google Analytics”) as enacted by the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) dated 15 August 2018. This means we entered into a data processing agreement with Google. The data we collect in Google Analytics is anonymized and encrypted. We agreed that:

  • The last octet of the IP address will be deleted before saving it
  • The setting “share data” is disabled
  • We do not make use of any other Google services in combination with the Google Analytics-cookies

This website runs on WordPress, a CMS (content management system) developed by Automattic. During your visit, WordPress uses a cookie to check whether cookies are supported by your browser. These cookies are not used for analyzes and are purely functional. WordPress meets the guidelines from the AVG (GDPR). We therefore also point to the general terms and conditions of Automattic.

Controlling browser settings

You can prohibit your browser to store cookies from websites. In addition, you can delete all information that is stored until now via the Settings menu in your browser. If you disable cookies in your browser, however, you might not be able to use all functionalities on our website.
